Step 1:
This project specifically deals with the K&N 77 Series Intake for the 5.3L engine (Part # 773023KP). K&N makes intakes to fit most every
application. Check their web site for details on other products and applications.
The 77 Series Intake is for off road and special purpose use, so you may want to consider one of their other intake kits depending on your
application.

Step 2:
The box is neatly packaged with everything that you'll need. Before you remove anything I would advise a quick browse through the manual
and written materials that were provided.
Step 3:
Inspect all of the parts and make sure everything is there and in good condition.
Step 4:
I chose to skim through the instructions and assemble what I could before going out to the Avalanche. Everything is together loosely and I took
this opportunity to test fit everything just to see how it all goes together.
Step 5:
One final picture of the stock intake.
Step 6:
Don't forget to disconnect the battery. This helps the computer re-learn with the new air intake more quickly.
Step 7:
Completely remove the stock air intake.
Step 8:
Install new K&N intake. Just follow provided instructions, it's pretty painless. With the 2005's and the electric fans there is a lot of
room to work with. If you have a 2002-2004 you will have a little less room to work with but you shouldn't have any problems getting the
intake installed.
Step 9:
Alternate view of the installed intake. After installation I connected the negative battery terminal and went to the gas station and filled up.
The estimated range on my DIC was about 20 miles over what it usually is when I fill up. I did about 30 miles of heavy driving and the estimated
range gained and lost a few miles back and forth during my first drive. At every light I was in full launch mode so that I could enjoy the added
sound at 2500 rpm and up. I don't expect my first tank to be good for comparison, but after the 2nd or 3rd tank I will update this project with
what I find.
Overall the intake was very easy to install and all the parts went together very nicely. It looks good under the hood, adds some mpg, adds some hp
and sounds good under heavy acceleration. Definately worth the money.
